“Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past.”
― George Orwell, 1984
Who Reads 1929?
Folks who have interest in a perspective based on a winding life experience, a Wall Street career, a sometimes educator, and student of the encyclopedia.
Is It Different This Time?
Not a chance!
John Templeton. The four most dangerous words in investing are “This time it's different.”
A Step In Time
Two years ago (3/10/20) I began my Covid-19 quarantine.
How was I to know that I’d have two years to create a new business or make progress on another degree?
How was I to know that when a vaccine was miraculously created I would have a pharmaceutical interaction that prevented my body from building antibodies?
There are days that I log almost as many steps walking from kitchen to living room to bedroom to kitchen, as I do on a morning walk taken in search of vitamin-D, fresh air, and perhaps human interaction from the required six feet.
Plenty of time for introspection, self-loathing, personal growth, and just about anything else associated with a New Year’s resolution or a back to work/earn a living plan.

Why Is The Newsletter Titled 1929?
The year 1929 was historic in numerous ways:
End of the Roaring 20’s
The year of The Great Crash and the start of 15 years of hardship
A lead event to World War II
A lead event for the great expansion post WWII
Why do I find this important? I see similarities, cyclical similarities, historical reflections:
We are back in the Roaring 20’s (2020’s)
The stock and housing markets are booming
On the verge of war in Europe
On Monday, March 23, 2020, the S&P 500 market index hit it’s “bear” market, pandemic low of 2,237.
